Well, grad school started this week...nasty. I have homework to do. Who gives homework in grad school? JK. I am trying to deal with it as best I can... (my husband just plays his air violin when I get to b_chin). I digress...

Tonight we went to the new Olive Garden that closed down, then got torn down, rebuilt yada yada yada... the place was not that great. I was thinking that we would see some new things on the menu. Nope. Infact, they still gave us the same dirty/greasy menus from the old building. Geeros. Anyhoo, the place was like Perkins inside. Light yellow curtains and white walls, terrible service.

I am totally PMSing.

I am trying to frantically get the St. E scrapbook done, as I have had the pile of pics on the table for months now and wouldn't cha know it, the phone rings... "we need it in 2 weeks". I want to say, "what do you mean? I can't have another 6 months to work on it?". How professional am i?

I always bite off more than I can chew.

Oh, and BTW I hit the 2000 mark on etsy. I am so excited that my little shop has done so well in 8 months. My sales really didn't start happening until last Dec, so i feel grateful and happy about it. Many thanks to the haters out there, believe me... there are some pretty bad haters. You can't have it all ladies... you know who you are.

I need to go and take a midol and then delete this post!

LOL.

Not.

Have a great night all!

Don't forget to sign up for the drawing for the RAK! See the below post!

Oh, happy Labor Day everyone! I will be at the hospital doing something less fun, believe me on that.

Doesn't my husband and his dad look totally retarded? These photos of my hubby and FIL, were taken in Iowa last weekend. I ran across these wigs in the closest of the spare room the kids were sleeping in, i brought them out and thought they would be fun for the kids to try on - get some laughs. I was later told that they were the wigs of my MIL's dead aunts... WTF?

Well, these jo's decided to try them on and be funny... I think Steve looks like Willie Nelson and Brent looks like a surfer with a bad batch of "sun in" hair lightener... They make totally UGLY girls....

What was that cheer?

U.G.L.Y.

You ain't got no alibi

You ugly! (uh,uh) You ugly!

I tried the wigs on the kids and it was hilarious. Lukey looked like a pretty girl, as he has this narrow face and small features. Lily wouldn't leave her's on long enough to tell. My son looked so much like me it is not even funny. Unfortunately, I could get him on camera either. I got it all up here baby (I point to my head).

I also started grad school up again tonight and was overwhelmed once or twice with the whole organic chemistry thing... I hope I can hang. I haven't had college classes in oh.... 13 + years. I am getting old.

Oh, almost forgot! The Paper Pixie is sponsoring a RAK over at The Art Is Found... go and check it out!

Have a great night!

Goodbye Andy

I have totally got to go to bed, it is 1:30 am here and I am getting up early...bright and shiny. I have to get my run in before we head off to Iowa to visit Andy as he prepares for his deployment to Iraq. I was wanting to get him something to remember us by... and then it hit me. I will send him a photo album that is flexible and easily shoved into his duffle bag. Something that doesn't scream...girly...

Andy is my husband's brother, who has truly turned his life around this past year and a half. He enlisted himself in the military and has surprised us all by his courage and determination to do good in the world. This is a complete 180 from his earlier years. He turned 21 this year in Korea, while serving, and he is still alive and assures the family he is not an alcoholic... LOL. I will see if that is true when I see him, for my nurse nose can sniff out just about any chemical dependency on the planet. LOL.

Here are some pics of the felt, mini album I made. It's not too girly is it? The guys won't totally laugh will they? I do have to lose the bow...It is filled with pics of the family, mini ones, for this little guy is only 5 x 5 inches in dimension.

TFL. Have a great weekend and I will return on Monday!

Summer is passing us by...

This summer is flying by... i think because i have so much on my plate lately that deadlines come pretty quick. My friend Shana and I decided to make the most of our beautiful Monday, and take the kids to Conrad Park and let them ride bikes. The weather was about 79ish degrees and breezy. We packed lunch and spend a few hours there for some totally FREE fun. That is what i am talkin' about...

Here is a pick of me and my kiddos, Lukey on the left and Lily on the right.

Lily was so stoked that she could finally ride her 2 wheeler, without training wheels! YIKES! Lukey kept riding into her to make her slow down, as he is 3 and simply cannot keep up with all the bigger kids. My team totally crashed that night... we fed 'em, bathed 'em, and took them out for milk shakes and tossed them into bed. For the best part of the Summer Olympics were about to start and B and I were not about to miss any of it. We are hooked!!

OHHH, check out these totally cool, Home Decor Rub Ons by DCWV. I finally finished painting my kitchen and added this to the top soffit. It was soooo easy and the pic doesn't do it justice. I am totally buying these for people who "just have everything" and you never know what to get them.

Well, now that the owl is finally back in the shop, in his rightful place... he is up for sale again.

Ready to give some sound advice on your pages! LOL. I also added some file folder tabs too. I wanted you to be able to journal on them if you wanted and cut them up if you wanted them smaller.

Have a great week, i am off to medicate my hip. Geez. The Columbus Marathon is coming up quick and training is brutal in the summer...

Totally NSR!!

I know this is not scrap or shop related, but this has found a new home!! I used my 40% coupon from Mike's and bought this little house this week!

I can't wait to get it out. My kids just eat up this animated stuff.

The little witch flies around the top of the house...

I plan to collect more... soooo hokey!!

The Noodle

I have been thinking a lot about this guy lately-my bro Chris. Christopher. Noodle. Ho Kim. Tootie. We call him "tootie" not for the obvious, but because he loved the Rootie Tootie Fresh and Fruity breakfast from Denny's when we grew up in FL. Yes, he has lots of nicknames. But, he is never allowed to call me Kelly, only "sis" will do. If he calls me by my name, i DO NOT respond. I worry about him and his job, health, marriage, faith, safety...lots of things. Now that he is married off and has a great job, i still worry.

Here is a recent photo of him and i at dinner, and I totally had to edit out the background objects... they were just too distracting.

I hope you are well kiddo, we love you, and are sending hugs from KY to FL :)

Here are some new things from the shop too...

Owls, Chandeliers, School Stuff... OH MY! I am overhauling the shop, and adding new items each week. My fingers cannot go as fast as my brain wants it to... my head is going to explode from all the totally rockin ideas in my head. So, if you are interested in freebies, register on the mailing list to the left! Lots of folks have signed up already!! Who doesn't want free crap? Well, not crap!!LOL.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful night and productive/or relaxing week. I am off to type my grandmother's medication list and return emails...

Toodles!

So pretty!!

OK Martha, you have inspired me!! I saw this darling picture and thought, " I could totally do that!!" Lord knows I have enough punches!

What inspires you???

I think when I do mine, I will use the colors... black, white and pink or aqua... for my scrap room of course!!!

Have a great night!!

New Stuff and Yes! I do scrap!!

It has been awhile since I sat down and scrapped a bit. Here is a little of what i came up with for a dear old friend (LOL, MBDT)!!! Still needs photos, but I will let her add them. I hate to part with this little darling... so alive this thing has become!

With gram's fun crocheted flowers and yep... hand crackled and painted fence, by yours truly. I dug out some Winnie's Walls, SEI papers for this one... I have been waiting to do this envelope album for a while.

Chuck full of etsy shop goodies, I don't know where to begin. These black vellum sticker frames came out STUNNING in person and are great for journaling right on the tag!!

I also loved how the scalloped round journaling spots matched perfectly to this paper. This line of tags is so versatile!!

I had to throw in the calendars too!

Here are just some other pics of the album!

See what I mean? I just want to put this baby on the mantle with my own photos in it!
Thanks for looking everyone, please have a happy and safe weekend!

Just Today

I sit here on my computer, out in my driveway watching the kids play... which means I am not inside doing what I need to...but that's ok. I just got home from the 11 mile run around town, in prep for the marathon in october, and I am pretty sore. I was sore before the run, from that nasty boot camp yesterday. So today, I will rest and not press myself. The weather is a balmy 80 degrees and breezy, so I am totally loving it. I designed a few cute new journaling spots as I sit here. Why can't I just sit here? Why do my hands and legs have to be productive all the time? Does anyone else have this problem?

I was planning to have a scrap weekend next week, but circumstances placed that to a halt. I was thinking... pizza, wine, friends, fun, scrappin', no kids or hubby around. But, now I will probably call my close girls and probably call Jana and see if she wants to meet us at Archiver's in Cinci on Friday for ScrapMania!! Scrapin' at Archiver's is a freakin' dream and I usually shop and socialize more than scrap.

I hope everyone else is having a great Sunday. I know I am.

Cheers!

There is lots of cleaning here at home and at work, as graduate school begins in the fall and I function best when I am totally organized.

Thanks for dropping by!!

Stay tuned for some really cool rewards, new shop items, another featured designer... and maybe some inspiration from me (if I can ever get my kids well enough so that I can scrap!)

Pixie Designer Rebecca Vavic

Sorry for the delay in my latest blog entry, but things have been so busy in shop! Thank you to my wonderful designers (who you will meet in due time), who have been working diligently on projects/layouts/cards and mini albums. These gals have truly surpassed my wildest dreams in working with the latest designs in the shop.

With that having been said, I would love to introduce to you the first of the designers... Bek Vavic, who I have come to dearly love and whom, I think is just a doll. This Aussie's freestyle way of creating pages, truly is remarkable. As her pages have graced the pages of Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooking Memories, and For Keeps. She is a SAHM living in Australia and has 2 beautiful children. She is a technical writer and graphic artist, as well as, scrapbooking instructor at the local college.

Her latest addtion to the Pixie's group pool "Bondi" was picked up for publication and this has us soooo excited.

You too could be the next designer for The Paper Pixie, so contact me and I would love to talk to you. Also, if you have some layouts using the Paper Pixie products, feel free to upload them to our flickr group. Contact me for an automatic and happy invite!

Stay tuned for the bio of our newest designer Kristina Proffitt!!

Have a happy and creative-fun filled week all!!

The Final Week...

Well as the training for the marathon comes to a close, our group prepares to hon in on the best eating habits this week. Lots of water and protein, minimal running, prayer, cross training, charging ipods and downloading power tunes, buying goo and avoiding injury. We have a babysitter to watch the kids while we run, which is HUGE... as our ENTIRE family unit other than ourselves will be out of town for my cousin's graduation at UK. I hate that we can't go, but the race is paid for and trained for and we gotta run it. Hopefully if all goes well and we stay free of injury we will run the Columbus Marathon in the fall and bed down for the winer.

I also did a VERY BAD THING yesterday and planted flowers in the yard. That is sure to bring on a frost... As I watched the news tonight, sure enough, in the 30's again. I jinxed the whole tristate by planting petunias. For those of you who don't know this, it is bad to plant flowers before Mother's Day. But, they looked so lovely and fresh, green and bright, I just had to. Now, I have to cover them up. Having lived in Florida almost my entire life, there were no superstitions or quams about planting all year round. I lost my head. What can I say?

One shop update... I have some guest designers in the works, so stay tuned for some real life pages with goodies from the shop!

Have a great week!

Design Team!

The Paper Pixie is looking for a creative team. It is all embryonic, but the plan is to have a couple of gals to use my products and get their pages featured here on the blog and flikr. With products now all over the world, :) I am happy to say, the WE are global! This is so exciting and inspiring! I never thought in a million years that I would love something so much as to have my own line of paper products that can make a scrapper PRODUCTIVE! Not just scrappers, but project and cardmakers, anyone who needs paper can come and shop! There is so much versatility in the items, that the possibilities are endless!

Oh, my Michael's Craft Store is having a HUGE sale this weekend with EVERYTHING EVEN SALE ITEMS, you get 25% off your entire order! Yep, ROCK ON!!

Oh, and Steph Modo has featured me again on her lovely blog and I am giving away some Paper Pixie goodies! How exciting and fun to share these. Check out her chic blog to the right------>

As I am completely drained from the near hospitalization (dental work gone horribly bad), I am back on my feet and back to running. I had to take about 4 days off and am like jello again... but I won't let it get me down. The marathon is in 2 weeks, and I am ready, I hope.

If you are interested in being a guest designer for The Paper Pixie, you can contact me if you like and I would love to talk to you!

Here is a card of my dear frequent etsy patron, Jana Millen! Thanks Jana for sharing your cards with me!! The layout is from Susan! Thank you too!!

We Played

Today was a beautiful day here! We needed the sunshine and Vitamin D! Ava came over to play with Lukey and they just had a ball. We played with sidewalk chalk, bubbles, made pampered chef PBJ's and rode bikes. God is good.

I also was able to get out my camera and take some shots of the boy and my newest little tags that I love dearly that no one has bought yet. Maybe I should add some string and showcase them as gift tags. I plan to print some for myself and add them to all my summer adult gifts, with To: and From: on the back. I also wanted to see how my calendar tags looked amongst the flowers on camera. I really am impressed how my Easter flowers are still makin' it! They are just as pretty now as the day I bought them.

I am looking to make a new form of calendar tag... maybe a smooth edge and different style. Any suggestions? Some of my best sellers are people who convo me with their ideas.

Have a great spring day and remember to take a picture this week. I did!

The Cheetah was dethroned...

This is how it went down.

The real story.

All I wanted to do was beat my time for last year. That's all.

We lined up, Brent, Jake and Myself... the gun went off and so did we. I started at my usual pace, a nice little clip. I couldn't feel my husband or Jake near me. They are behind me... I shall keep it that way.

Mile 2, doin' good. Then I feel it. The right foot. Shoestring. Gives. Out.

CAAAARAAAAAP!

God is punishing me for some reason... yet again. So I stopped and retied the previously double tied shoelace. How does that happen? Really?

Brent surges forward and leaves me in the dust. I just can't catch up. I just couldn't.

He beats me.

I beat my last year's time.

The Cheetah has been dethroned. I ran terrible. It was rainy, bum dinger. (besides, i didn't name myself that, it is a total inside joke.)

Every now and then during the race, cutesy little boppers tried to pass me. But.... I wasn't so bad off that I was gonna let those 3 little gazelles prance past me. NO WAY. So as they decided, one by one to pass me... they got plucked off the map. Except for that 3rd one, she hung on until mile 9. Then I was able to lose her. True story.

So, we got back to the car and to celebrate Brent's victory over the group we went to Rally's and gorged on cheap burgers, coated fries and diet cokes. Yummy, really it was.

I did place 16th in my division, which for an old lady isn't so bad.

Where's the Ben Gay?
(the songs on the playlist this week are what fueled me during the race. Yes.. Michael Jackson and NKOTB). LOL
