What inspires you???

New Stuff and Yes! I do scrap!!

It has been awhile since I sat down and scrapped a bit. Here is a little of what i came up with for a dear old friend (LOL, MBDT)!!! Still needs photos, but I will let her add them. I hate to part with this little darling... so alive this thing has become!

With gram's fun crocheted flowers and yep... hand crackled and painted fence, by yours truly. I dug out some Winnie's Walls, SEI papers for this one... I have been waiting to do this envelope album for a while.

Chuck full of etsy shop goodies, I don't know where to begin. These black vellum sticker frames came out STUNNING in person and are great for journaling right on the tag!!

I also loved how the scalloped round journaling spots matched perfectly to this paper. This line of tags is so versatile!!

I had to throw in the calendars too!

Here are just some other pics of the album!

See what I mean? I just want to put this baby on the mantle with my own photos in it!
Thanks for looking everyone, please have a happy and safe weekend!

Just Today

I sit here on my computer, out in my driveway watching the kids play... which means I am not inside doing what I need to...but that's ok. I just got home from the 11 mile run around town, in prep for the marathon in october, and I am pretty sore. I was sore before the run, from that nasty boot camp yesterday. So today, I will rest and not press myself. The weather is a balmy 80 degrees and breezy, so I am totally loving it. I designed a few cute new journaling spots as I sit here. Why can't I just sit here? Why do my hands and legs have to be productive all the time? Does anyone else have this problem?

I was planning to have a scrap weekend next week, but circumstances placed that to a halt. I was thinking... pizza, wine, friends, fun, scrappin', no kids or hubby around. But, now I will probably call my close girls and probably call Jana and see if she wants to meet us at Archiver's in Cinci on Friday for ScrapMania!! Scrapin' at Archiver's is a freakin' dream and I usually shop and socialize more than scrap.

I hope everyone else is having a great Sunday. I know I am.

Cheers!

Under Construction!

So, the blog is under construction and in need of some updating. Bear with us as we make way for some positive changes around here!

I also have been spending some time on my MBDT {Memories By Design Team} Mini Album and trying to finish that- using some really cool Paper Pixie items from the shop!

There is lots of cleaning here at home and at work, as graduate school begins in the fall and I function best when I am totally organized.

Thanks for dropping by!!

Stay tuned for some really cool rewards, new shop items, another featured designer... and maybe some inspiration from me (if I can ever get my kids well enough so that I can scrap!)

Pixie Designer Rebecca Vavic

Sorry for the delay in my latest blog entry, but things have been so busy in shop! Thank you to my wonderful designers (who you will meet in due time), who have been working diligently on projects/layouts/cards and mini albums. These gals have truly surpassed my wildest dreams in working with the latest designs in the shop.

With that having been said, I would love to introduce to you the first of the designers... Bek Vavic, who I have come to dearly love and whom, I think is just a doll. This Aussie's freestyle way of creating pages, truly is remarkable. As her pages have graced the pages of Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooking Memories, and For Keeps. She is a SAHM living in Australia and has 2 beautiful children. She is a technical writer and graphic artist, as well as, scrapbooking instructor at the local college.

Her latest addtion to the Pixie's group pool "Bondi" was picked up for publication and this has us soooo excited.

You too could be the next designer for The Paper Pixie, so contact me and I would love to talk to you. Also, if you have some layouts using the Paper Pixie products, feel free to upload them to our flickr group. Contact me for an automatic and happy invite!

Stay tuned for the bio of our newest designer Kristina Proffitt!!

Have a happy and creative-fun filled week all!!

The Final Week...

Well as the training for the marathon comes to a close, our group prepares to hon in on the best eating habits this week. Lots of water and protein, minimal running, prayer, cross training, charging ipods and downloading power tunes, buying goo and avoiding injury. We have a babysitter to watch the kids while we run, which is HUGE... as our ENTIRE family unit other than ourselves will be out of town for my cousin's graduation at UK. I hate that we can't go, but the race is paid for and trained for and we gotta run it. Hopefully if all goes well and we stay free of injury we will run the Columbus Marathon in the fall and bed down for the winer.

I also did a VERY BAD THING yesterday and planted flowers in the yard. That is sure to bring on a frost... As I watched the news tonight, sure enough, in the 30's again. I jinxed the whole tristate by planting petunias. For those of you who don't know this, it is bad to plant flowers before Mother's Day. But, they looked so lovely and fresh, green and bright, I just had to. Now, I have to cover them up. Having lived in Florida almost my entire life, there were no superstitions or quams about planting all year round. I lost my head. What can I say?

One shop update... I have some guest designers in the works, so stay tuned for some real life pages with goodies from the shop!

Have a great week!

Design Team!

The Paper Pixie is looking for a creative team. It is all embryonic, but the plan is to have a couple of gals to use my products and get their pages featured here on the blog and flikr. With products now all over the world, :) I am happy to say, the WE are global! This is so exciting and inspiring! I never thought in a million years that I would love something so much as to have my own line of paper products that can make a scrapper PRODUCTIVE! Not just scrappers, but project and cardmakers, anyone who needs paper can come and shop! There is so much versatility in the items, that the possibilities are endless!

Oh, my Michael's Craft Store is having a HUGE sale this weekend with EVERYTHING EVEN SALE ITEMS, you get 25% off your entire order! Yep, ROCK ON!!

Oh, and Steph Modo has featured me again on her lovely blog and I am giving away some Paper Pixie goodies! How exciting and fun to share these. Check out her chic blog to the right------>

As I am completely drained from the near hospitalization (dental work gone horribly bad), I am back on my feet and back to running. I had to take about 4 days off and am like jello again... but I won't let it get me down. The marathon is in 2 weeks, and I am ready, I hope.

If you are interested in being a guest designer for The Paper Pixie, you can contact me if you like and I would love to talk to you!

Here is a card of my dear frequent etsy patron, Jana Millen! Thanks Jana for sharing your cards with me!! The layout is from Susan! Thank you too!!

We Played

Today was a beautiful day here! We needed the sunshine and Vitamin D! Ava came over to play with Lukey and they just had a ball. We played with sidewalk chalk, bubbles, made pampered chef PBJ's and rode bikes. God is good.

I also was able to get out my camera and take some shots of the boy and my newest little tags that I love dearly that no one has bought yet. Maybe I should add some string and showcase them as gift tags. I plan to print some for myself and add them to all my summer adult gifts, with To: and From: on the back. I also wanted to see how my calendar tags looked amongst the flowers on camera. I really am impressed how my Easter flowers are still makin' it! They are just as pretty now as the day I bought them.

I am looking to make a new form of calendar tag... maybe a smooth edge and different style. Any suggestions? Some of my best sellers are people who convo me with their ideas.

Have a great spring day and remember to take a picture this week. I did!

The Cheetah was dethroned...

This is how it went down.

The real story.

All I wanted to do was beat my time for last year. That's all.

We lined up, Brent, Jake and Myself... the gun went off and so did we. I started at my usual pace, a nice little clip. I couldn't feel my husband or Jake near me. They are behind me... I shall keep it that way.

Mile 2, doin' good. Then I feel it. The right foot. Shoestring. Gives. Out.

CAAAARAAAAAP!

God is punishing me for some reason... yet again. So I stopped and retied the previously double tied shoelace. How does that happen? Really?

Brent surges forward and leaves me in the dust. I just can't catch up. I just couldn't.

He beats me.

I beat my last year's time.

The Cheetah has been dethroned. I ran terrible. It was rainy, bum dinger. (besides, i didn't name myself that, it is a total inside joke.)

Every now and then during the race, cutesy little boppers tried to pass me. But.... I wasn't so bad off that I was gonna let those 3 little gazelles prance past me. NO WAY. So as they decided, one by one to pass me... they got plucked off the map. Except for that 3rd one, she hung on until mile 9. Then I was able to lose her. True story.

So, we got back to the car and to celebrate Brent's victory over the group we went to Rally's and gorged on cheap burgers, coated fries and diet cokes. Yummy, really it was.

I did place 16th in my division, which for an old lady isn't so bad.

Where's the Ben Gay?
(the songs on the playlist this week are what fueled me during the race. Yes.. Michael Jackson and NKOTB). LOL

Thursday, March 27, 2008

I'll have 1 hard body to go please, oh and a diet coke.

Last weekend was lots of fun, ya know... catching up on shop stuff, attending the Beverly Body Building and Figure Competition, running 20 miles, hosting Easter dinner, agonizing over my aching tooth...

We had lotsa fun watching Sarah compete in the women's figure division and meeting her new boyfriend, Brandt. I know, she is ORANGE, but the blanching lights force one to look like "soul man" just to not look like a ghost. One order of spray tan coming right up. I'll bet she has it all washed off by now!

I am off to take advil for my tooth and beat my head against the wall a few times. God is punishing me for some odd reason.

Here is some shop goodies I came up with. As I scrapped, I realized what fun these would be in different colors and fonts. Check them out at my etsy store at the link to the right.
Nite all!

Flower Power

The kids were so eager to help me with the new scrap room, but there was nothing, in my mind they could do... I dug deep.... My inner voice said, "Give up that analness and let the kids HELP you. Give them something to dooooo."

So, there was the HUGE pile of flowers that totally needed to be sorted. I mean sorted BAD. So that is what I did. I had purchased these cheapo dollar tree bins and just had them rip 'em off the stem and put them away. It helped Lily feel like she was helping me, and Lukey learned his colors. Ok, not so bad.

On another note, I am trying to go a little greener lately... I returned all of my plastic bags to the store and bought a ton of the canvas bags for the groceries. (They were only .99c) I am trying to reuse and recycle shipping supplies... recycling my cans and other items.... I am working on it.

Al Gore save us.

Thanks for all the continued support in the shop! I love you all dearly, those wonderful customers who keep me going! And the scrap industry! THANK YOU...

Have a good night.

What a Weekend...

So, Friday, Lukey found himself in the ER with an asthma attack to beat the band. I have always been able to doctor him at home, but this time was different. He started with a runny nose and by the next day, he was wheezing. No big deal, he has done this since he was 4 weeks old. The doctors and myself thought he was outgrowing it, since he hasn't had a nebulizer treatment in 15 months. We went a solid year without any sickness and BAM, ER city.

He was breathing 60 times a minute and using accessory muscles to breathe. Naturally the neb wasn't working to rescue him and my nursing skills were waring thin. So I brought him to my ER and let my good friends work on him and he was springing out the door. I am soooo surprised that this is our first ER visit with him in his 3 little years of life.

The next day he was feeling better... so we celebrated with wings and wine from Hoggy's. The above pic is us playing Charley's Angels... that is me on the far left. I seriously need a haircut. No time in the schedule for it though.

We taught sunday school today and ran our 17 miler long run... boy am i tired. I am off to bed, but just wanted to share the newest item in the shop.

Color Me Happy, let your kid color these tags and put them on your pages!! All are acid/lignin free and you get 12 images in all. Use your chalks, ink, paints, watercolor pencils to make these things just totally rock. Your kids can sit and color them, while you work on the rest of the page. Click the etsy shop link to the right to go there and purchase!!

Have a good night, I am off to log my miles. 100... can you believe it? In this weather? Yuck!

Tea anyone?

So, I got this etsy convo from Kathy, about having some creamy tags and "make them with bees, crowns, fleur de lis and whatever". So this is what I came up with. So yummy and crisp the printing, I am proud of them. Thanks Kathy my girl!

I also received another fun item, another top knotch etsy purchase from my fellow etsyian Lisa Marie! I want to really do it justice, so I won't post it yet, I want to take a picture with it in use!

There is more fun, interactive stuff to happen in the shop.... I will give you a hint....

1. Rewards....

2. Nothing as seen on Etsy before...

3. Uber cheap shipping....

4. Sure to get you published!

So stay tuned to the shop. Shoot me a line if you get published using my products, there is a free gift in it for ya!

:) Kelly

P.S. Wish me luck my MIL comes in today from Seattle at 2.00 pm!! EEKK

MARCH MADNESS!!

Well, even though it is not March, yet.... I am finding myself getting others ready for it! Here is a wholesale order of 800 tags for Christy, which was, BTW a total blast and so much fun. There are lots more new, fun and yummy items in the shop and more to come.

Fabulous Filigree Cash is my newest line of tags and journaling spots to be seen in the shop! Check out the pic above for just a sampling of the soft colors to be in stock. Use them as gift tags, silly notes, labels for your scrap supplies, ornate details for your pages and the list just keeps on growing.

Also, Valentines Day past me by, and I was soooo busy with the hospital, the university and the pixie press that I almost forgot. My kids and hubby didn't - and this is what I got.... I am a lucky girl.

I also got an email this week from Susan who's fantastic layout, holds one of my little tags... she did just a fantastic job with it. I am sorry that it has taken me so long to post it!

Thanks for all of the wonderful well wishers out there who love my shop goodies and are dear friends to me.

Have a great week and God Bless!

When Inspiration Finds You!

Playing around in PSP8 is a blast. I should stop being a nurse and go back to school for design of some sort. I simply am having a ball. These newest Jumbo Spin the Wheel Tags in the shop, kind of hit the mark for lots of fun things to say on your pages. There is even a small line for a date or special remark. Thanks to Carrie for being "all over those" and hinting as to what would be a cool thing to add to the shop.

I also had fun with these fun safari and batik spots and adding color to the crowns. I think I have spring fever.
I recently had someone ask me here locally, "What kind of things can I do with those?". Well, if you are not a scrapper, try using some tape and attaching them to gifts or teacher notes. I think those safari ones would look cool on a doggy page or zoo layout. Inspiration is everywhere, you just have to have your imagination cap on so to speak. Oh, and a recent copy of CK or Memory Makers would help too! LOL

Latest Creation

I really enjoyed these new Scenic Route papers found at my LSS. The album is of paper bags and trimmed at the bottom and held together in the spine by an office folder clip. I have a couple of odd elements from the shop in there, all nestled in nice and cozy... The front has a button from my gram's vintage stash... too cool. I am having a ball playing with felt lately, but some girls in the DT want to create with foam too. I am not keen on foam, because all I want to do it poke it with my fingernails and chew on it. I take that back, I have never chewed on fun foam, but I want to.

I am weird.

Note to self: Get Michelle scrappin' with some supplies from my shop, since she gets published every time she changes her underwear... LOL. I love ya girl.
